POSTAL STRIKE ARRANGEMENTS
We have been severely affected by the Postal Dispute which is destroying many small businesses like ours. We have taken the decision that all orders over £20 will now be sent by My Hermes or a similar courier company. We will charge the same rate as before for UK deliveries, as long as rates remain the same. This way you can be assured of delivery within a few days of ordering, plus we will have full tracking of your parcels. Unfortunately orders under £20 and export orders under £50 will have to be sent through the Royal Mail postal service.

Fishing in October & November - Focus on Grayling
November can be nearly as good as October but depends very much on the weather conditions on the day. Mild overcast calm days should see lots of flies hatching and great dry fly sport. Brighter colder days should see excellent sport with the Grayling to small nymphs and shrimp patterns. Once again this is grayling time and I expect good fishing to continue until the very end of the season. There are less fishers out on the riverbanks in the late-season than in the autumn and I feel that this makes the fish less spooky and more likely to take.

ABC FLY PATTERNS
Our friend Bas Walraven in Holland has created a new concept called ABC flies.
A new concept in fly tying, the idea is really simple - just by leaving space under the top of the foam so the fly can collect air bubbles from the surface and therefore provide greater buoyancy and make the fly more attractive.
These flies also act as great bite indicators and work well as a rig where buzzers or nymphs can be hung down from the ABC fly, a really effective way of fishing.

CARP FLIES - Fly Fishing for Carp
Having now caught a number of carp on the fly, I am well and truly hooked, the fight compares with catching a salmon, try it
and you too will see what I mean.
Flies range from the Crazy Charlie in whatever colour matches the stream bottom, to wooly buggers in white and olive, and egg-patterns coloured to resemble corn, or trout eggs or dog biscuits, pellets and bread
imitations. Choose patterns based on the vegetable as well as animal sides of the menu, because carp are omnivorous.
